The City is calling on Philip Hammond to tweak workplace pension rules so that millions of pounds in pension fund money goes straight to good causes, ahead of this week’s Budget.
Theresa May was due to meet with senior City executives last week to discuss the ways pension fund money could be funnelled into social investment, and insurers and pension advisers are hoping the Chancellor’s Budget will move the issue forward.
A government consultation on the subject could be used as a way to impress younger voters.
