Jonathan Holdaway joins the Baggette + Co. Wealth Management Adviser Team

Baggette + Co. Wealth Management Welcomes Chartered Financial Planner Jonathan Holdaway

Baggette + Co. Wealth Management continues its strategic growth with the appointment of Jonathan Holdaway as a Chartered Financial Planner, further strengthening the firm’s commitment to delivering high-quality independent financial advice across Dorset and Hampshire.

Known to clients and colleagues as Jonny, he brings more than 30 years of experience within financial services and financial planning, having advised clients across the UK and internationally throughout his career.

Jonny joins Baggette + Co. following seven years working in Spain, where he specialised in advising expatriate clients on retirement planning, pensions and cross-border financial considerations.

His appointment adds significant experience and technical expertise to the firm’s growing Financial Adviser team, particularly in the areas of retirement planning, pension advice, defined benefit pensions, tax planning and later life financial planning.

Jonny said:

“I’m very happy to be joining Baggette + Co. From my first conversations with Oscar and the wider team, it was clear that the firm’s values aligned strongly with my own.

“What really stood out to me was the genuine client-first culture. There are no sales targets or pressure to push products. The focus is simply on doing the right thing for clients and helping people achieve the best possible outcomes through proper financial planning.”

Helping Clients Retire with Confidence

Jonny’s passion for financial planning was shaped early in his career following the loss of his father shortly after retirement — an experience that fundamentally changed how he viewed money, retirement and financial independence.

He explained:

“My father worked incredibly hard his entire life and kept delaying retirement because he thought he needed a bigger pension. He had a year off due to ill health and finally retired at 61, but sadly passed away just three days later.

“That stayed with me and became one of the reasons I moved into financial planning. It made me realise how many people spend years worrying about whether they can afford to retire, when often they may already have enough to enjoy the life they want.”

Today, Jonny uses detailed cashflow modelling and his training as a Kinder Institute Registered Life Planner to help clients visualise their future finances and make informed decisions about retirement, pensions and later-life planning.

Throughout his career, he has developed particular expertise in complex retirement planning, including defined benefit pension schemes and inheritance tax planning.

Chartered Financial Planning Expertise

Jonny has held Chartered Financial Planner status for more than 20 years and was among the first group of advisers in the UK to achieve the qualification when Chartered status was first introduced by the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Over the years, he has worked in both provider and advisory roles within financial services, giving him extensive experience in pensions, investments and long-term wealth management.

His time working with expatriate clients in Spain also provided valuable insight into cross-border retirement planning and the additional considerations faced by individuals living or retiring overseas.

The Importance of Independent Financial Advice

Having worked within different areas of the profession throughout his career, Jonny strongly believes in the value of genuinely independent financial advice.

He believes clients benefit from advisers having the freedom to recommend solutions based on individual needs rather than being restricted to specific providers or product ranges.

Jonny also places a strong emphasis on building long-term client relationships through open conversations, trust and helping people feel genuinely comfortable discussing their financial future.

Continuing Strategic Growth Across Dorset and Hampshire

Jonny’s appointment forms part of Baggette + Co. Wealth Management’s continued expansion following a sustained period of growth across its Financial Adviser, Client Services and Paraplanning teams.

Established in Poole in 1986, the independent financial advisory (IFA) firm continues to grow its presence across Dorset, Hampshire and the wider South Coast.

Oscar Hjalmas, CEO of Baggette + Co. Wealth Management, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Jonny to the business. His experience and technical knowledge make him a fantastic addition to our Financial Adviser team.

“From the first conversation, it was obvious how much he cares about clients and doing the right thing for them. He’s someone who really takes the time to understand people properly, and that fits our approach to financial planning perfectly.”
